Getting a tattoo starts well before your appointment. Whether you have a clear idea or are still figuring things out, the consultation and booking process is where your design, placement, and overall plan come together.
At Ink Noir Tattoo Studio in Winnipeg, we take a structured approach to ensure every project is matched with the right artist and set up properly from the start.
This guide covers how our consultation process works, what to prepare, and what to expect after submitting a request.
How Our Booking Process Works
All tattoo requests begin through our online form.
Once submitted, your request is reviewed based on:
Style and design direction
Placement and size
Budget range
Artist availability
Your request is then matched with the artist best suited for the work. You’ll receive a response with that artist included in the email thread to continue the process directly.
This ensures your project is handled by someone experienced in the type of tattoo you’re looking for.
Consultations: In Person or Online
Consultations are available in person at our studio or through video call when needed.
Not every tattoo requires a separate consultation. For smaller or straightforward pieces, details are often finalized through email before your appointment. Whether online or in person, consultations take about 15-30 minutes.
A consultation may be recommended for:
Larger or multi-session projects
Cover-ups or reworks
Custom designs that require more planning
Placement across larger areas of the body
What to Include in Your Request
Providing clear information upfront helps us match your project properly and move things forward faster.
When submitting your request, include:
A description of your idea
Placement on the body
Approximate size
Reference images (if applicable)
Budget range
Even if your idea isn’t fully developed, direction is important.
Choosing the Right Artist
Each artist at Ink Noir works within specific styles.
Before booking, review portfolios carefully to understand:
Linework and detail
Shading and contrast
Overall composition
Consistency across their work
If you’re unsure who to choose, your request will be reviewed and directed based on the work you’re looking for.
Deposits and Securing Your Appointment
Once your project is approved, a deposit of $100 + GST is required to secure your appointment.
Deposits are processed securely through our booking system, Fresha.
Appointments are not confirmed until the deposit has been received.
Design Process
Designs are created based on the information provided during booking.
Depending on the artist and project:
Designs may be sent in advance, typically the day before your appointment
Some designs are finalized the day of the tattoo
Designs may be shared as an outline or base concept. Shading, detail, and final adjustments are often completed during the appointment.
Minor changes to size, placement, or small details can be made before the tattoo begins.
Pricing and Budget
Tattoo pricing varies depending on:
Size and placement
Level of detail
Time required
Artist experience
Each artist sets their own rates.
Providing a budget range helps ensure your project is matched appropriately. Final pricing is confirmed directly with the artist.
Response Time
Response times can vary depending on submission volume and artist availability.
If your request aligns, you’ll be contacted with next steps. Be sure to monitor your inbox and check your spam or junk folder, as replies can occasionally be filtered.
Final Notes Before Booking
Be clear and realistic about your idea and budget
Take time to review artist portfolios
Be responsive once contacted
Trust your artist’s recommendations on sizing and placement
A well-prepared request leads to a smoother process and a stronger final result.
